This is my bizarre amalgamation of an amnesia!fic and "Dean and Cas have a cute baby girl for no explicable reason." Because there are some stories that everyone should write at least once, and that was the kind of day I had yesterday. (You know how toaster ovens say "If contents ignite, keep door closed and unplug oven"? Yeah, here's a hint for you. If contents ignite, keep door closed.)

This is set after the Sky trilogy, but probably all you need to know about this story is that the tall ships are in port for Memorial Day weekend and I saw this picture in the paper:

I really, really love the concept of RPM. I feel about it the way I felt about Lost Galaxy: it's so brilliant, why are they wasting time on guns and gas guzzling machines?! (I mean, in Lost Galaxy it was guns and girls' skin, but same idea.)

I love the idea that Venjix is a conscious computer code born of human desperation, I love that the machines they're fighting are a reflection of them, I love that Venjix is in their city on their team and they're able to make the distinction between individuals and the actions of a population.

I also like to think that the RPM team supports each other more than we see on screen. Because if any Ranger team ever needed bigger hugs and better pancakes, it's this one. So here are some Indigo Girls' lyrics with pictures (and sometimes people ask me if they can use the screencaps in these ~ the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES). ♥

"Come On Home"
"The team you're hitched to has a mind of its own
But it's just the forces of your past you've fought before
Come back here and shut the door
I'm stacking sandbags against the river of your troubles"

This is my new subtle Space icon; do you like it? ::grin:: I call it "rainbow flare," aka "Cassie is the awesomest." I found it while I was watching Space and Lost Galaxy eps for my latest project, "First Inspiration." (That's the working title that I just made up right now. It ended up being called "Two Worlds, One Family," because I think Phil Collins' singing is kind of fabulous.)

Anyway, if you want to watch any of the old episodes of Power Rangers, may I recommend Power Rangers Unlimited ♥ Their list of episode downloads includes every season and lots of DVD quality shows. You don't have to join anything or jump through any hoops to access them, and the free download "limit" has gone so high that I don't even know what it is anymore. I haven't hit it in years.

I took advantage of it this weekend to broaden my collection of old school hero tales, and also as a distraction from writing. (Like I need more: Last Bell is so old now that one of the characters refers to newsgroups instead of blogs! [personal profile] marcicat reminds me that it does take place in 2005, and can thus be considered "period" rather than "dated.") So, this illustrated tribute to the studio version of Phil Collins' "Tarzan" soundtrack is based on "First" ♥

Two Worlds, One Family
"Put your faith in what you most believe in
Two worlds, one family
Trust your heart, let fate decide
To guide these lives we seek"
